The wedding bells rang, rose petals were being tossed and our friends and family were yelling their congratulations as we left the church for our lovely limo ride to the reception. That’s how it was on our wedding day. I have to say, it was a an unforgettable ceremony too, and with all the help I got on accessory suggestions, it wasn’t hard to put it all together. With all the exceptional accessories and supplies at my disposal there was no way this wedding and reception wouldn’t be a success.

Starting with the invitations and ending with the perfect little thank you gifts, they had it all. Our invitations were quite lovely with the silver printing on the front. There was a gorgeous flower girl basket and ring pillow among all the accessories that I decided to buy for our ceremony. It was a beautiful satin garnet color and included a wedding guest book, pen set and wedding garter. A five piece wedding set that wasn’t very expensive at all.

I also picked out an aisle runner along with other accessories for our wedding. We wanted to have a wedding bell favor and we loved it! All the little bells were ringing at the end of the ceremony, as we made our way to the limo. I really liked the idea of the bell ringing.

I didn’t just order things for my ceremony, I also ordered everything I needed for our reception too. They really had quite a collection of gorgeous wedding reception accessories to choose from. I have this thing for shiny things, and I found a lot of crystal glassware, including beautiful champagne flutes for our reception tables. There were twisted stemmed flutes which I ordered for our guests and a special toasting flute set I ordered especially for the bride and groom for our table. Wedding bells favors really made our tables shine with elegance, and I thought it would be a nice gift for our guests as a little something extra to show our appreciation.

I could have bought every gorgeous item they had on their list, but I think I would have been overdoing it just a little. Glass coasters was our choice of wedding favor gifts for our guests. They had a lovely calla lilie design on them that was absolutely beautiful. I also chose these very elegant looking favor boxes with a little thank you tag on them, for the wedding favors. The shiny gift boxes added that extra sparkle to our guests tables. On each reception table was a centerpiece I made up of lovely flowers and some very elegant candles.

At the end of the reception hall was our wedding cake on a special little table. Chocolate and cherries three tiers high with a very lovely cake topper resting on top. Our topper was really exquisite, with calla lilies and a beautiful ribbon, tied in a bow. Everything at our reception turned out to be perfect. With all the tons of wedding pictures we had, I finally had to order another wedding album to store them all in. There were so many shots of us with our wedding cake and the traditional cutting and sharing of the very first piece. There were also pictures of our first dance together as man and wife, our guests on the dance floor and an adorable picture of the flower girl and ring boy dancing together.

Our friends and family told me they had a fantastic time at our reception and that they think I did a spectacular job in planning the wedding décor. I plan on having another wedding ceremony and reception for our anniversary one year and I was so glad to hear that my wonderful husband thinks that’s a fantastic idea.

Usually, a flower girls job is to toss rose petals, confetti, or some kind of flower petals as she walks down the aisle at your wedding. Well, I don’t know if you know this or not, but I just found out that many churches frown on this and won’t allow this. Some will let you toss silk flower petals, but many won’t allow that either. I don’t know if it’s because they are worried that someone will slip on them and be injured or because it can get a bit messy. One church I know of said it was because there was no one there that could clean up after the ceremony. But, whatever the reason, it’s not permitted.

I ran across some suggestions in what to put in flower girl baskets and came up with a few. There is a wedding bell suggestion, bubbles, and even a suggestion to just make a beautiful flower arrangement and have her walk down the aisle and carry it, much like the bridesmaids and the bride. There was also a suggestion (which is my particular favorite) to have the flower girl pass out a rose to guests at the end of the pews as she takes her walk down the aisle. I think that is a lovely idea. It’s romantic and a very nice gesture.

The bubble idea, is for the flower girl to blow bubbles as she takes her little journey, but I also read that many churches don’t like that idea too much, either. I guess if the church aisles aren’t carpeted it could get a little hazardous with soapy water on the floor. So, I guess that wouldn’t work out too well, although it is a cute idea. A lovely flower arrangement also sounds nice, at least there wouldn’t be a mess, there wouldn’t be any chance of injury and your little flower girl would have a nice little souvenir from your ceremony to remember the day she felt like a little princess walking down that aisle.

The last suggestion I found was for the flower girl to hand out little wedding bells to the guests at the end of the pews as she made her walk, and the people rang the bells as the bride entered the room and headed toward the altar. Although this sounds kind of nice, I think I’d want the ringing of the bells to be held off until the end of the ceremony, when the minister or priest pronounces the couple as man and wife. The ringing of a lot of bells would seem to me to be a distraction from the brides descent down the aisle. But everyone to their own taste.

They are all good ideas, I guess it’s basically your own personal choice. There are mini bells you can buy for your guests, and even pass out as wedding favors at your reception. There are also wedding bell decorations you can use for your reception and confetti shaped like little wedding bells too. That could actually turn out to be a very spectacular décor for your after the ceremony party. After all, the wedding bell is a symbol of marriage and a celebration of your unity.

What ever you decide to do, just remember to check with your church, or where ever you plan to have your ceremony, and make sure that they don’t have any objections to tossing flower petals, bubbles or confetti down their aisle. If they don’t, then you’re good to go, if they do, at least you have a few suggestions you may be able to use.
