I ran across some suggestions in what to put in flower girl baskets and came up with a few. There is a wedding bell suggestion, bubbles, and even a suggestion to just make a beautiful flower arrangement and have her walk down the aisle and carry it, much like the bridesmaids and the bride. There was also a suggestion (which is my particular favorite) to have the flower girl pass out a rose to guests at the end of the pews as she takes her walk down the aisle.  I think that is a lovely idea. It’s romantic and a very nice gesture.

   The bubble idea, is for the flower girl to blow bubbles as she takes her little journey, but I also read that many churches don’t like that idea too much, either. I guess if the church aisles aren’t carpeted it could get a little hazardous with soapy water on the floor. So, I guess that wouldn’t work out too well, although it is a cute idea. A lovely flower arrangement also sounds nice, at least there wouldn’t be a mess, there wouldn’t be any chance of injury and your little flower girl would have a nice little souvenir from your ceremony to remember the day she felt like a little princess walking down that aisle.

  The last suggestion I found was for the flower girl to hand out little wedding bells to the guests at the end of the pews as she made her walk, and the people rang the bells as the bride entered the room and headed toward the altar. Although this sounds kind of nice, I think I’d want the ringing of the bells to be held off until the end of the ceremony, when the minister or priest pronounces the couple as man and wife. The ringing of a lot of bells would seem to me to be a distraction from the brides descent down the aisle. But everyone to their own taste.

   They are all good ideas, I guess it’s basically your own personal choice. There are mini bells you can buy for your guests, and even pass out as wedding favors at your reception. There are also wedding bell decorations you can use for your reception and confetti shaped like little wedding bells too.  That could actually turn out to be a very spectacular décor for your after the ceremony party. After all, the wedding bell is a symbol of marriage and a celebration of your unity.

   What ever you decide to do, just remember to check with your church, or where ever you plan to have your ceremony, and make sure that they don’t have any objections to tossing flower petals, bubbles or confetti down their aisle. If they don’t, then you’re good to go, if they do, at least you have a few suggestions you may be able to use.
