It is an old tradition and still going strong. I cannot [...]]]>      Tradition in my family is a big thing. I wanted my wedding to be traditional. Majority of people plan a traditional wedding. Like the bridal bouquet toss or the garter toss. Wedding garters have come a long way. It is an old tradition and still going strong. I cannot image a wedding without it. The tradition of the garter toss is what the groom’s men anticipate at the reception. The groom removes it from the bride and tosses to the waiting group of single men. Whoever catches the garter is next in line to be married. It is also said that whoever catches it will be lucky in love. Normally the bride has two wedding garters, one is for her to keep and the other is for the garter throw. The keepsake garter is removed later in private during the honeymoon night.

     The garter starts out on the bride’s leg, just above the knee. The groom slowly takes the garter off his new bride. Alluring music is usually being played during this. After the groom removes the garter from his bride, he then throws it to the single men waiting in the crowd. Whoever catches the garter is next in line to be married. Then the man who catches the wedding garter would then wear it on his arm. In some weddings whoever caught the garter would have to put in on the leg of the single women who caught the bouquet. During this process all the guests are standing around also in anticipation and excitement. With this being a tradition, it is also an act of the wedding festivities.

    Honoring my family and going with tradition I wanted my bridal garters to be sexy and classy looking. They had to be the kind that was a keepsake and memorable. I had to think about what style of garter I wanted. I also had to find the right color to match my wedding gown.  My dress was white, so I had ro find white garters to match. I knew the one that was my keepsake had to be very special. I decided to go with satin and lace. I thought about making my garters, but when I looked online and saw all the selections of garters, I knew I could not make them as good as the ones I saw. So making my garters was out of the question. There were a lot of satin and lace to choose from.  I finally found the ones I liked.

     They were made of satin and lace with pearls and bows on them. My keepsake garter was wide and the one I would toss was thin. My garters came as a set and were affordable. I knew once I put them on that they would look sexy and classy. I placed my order and could not wait to get them. They finally arrived and I could not wait to match them to my dress. I opened them up and put them up to my wedding dress. They were a perfect match. I was so relieved. The minute I saw my wedding garters that they looked like they would be a heirloom. They are so beautiful and gorgeous. I cannot wait to wear my wedding garters under my wedding dress and surprise my new husband.

     I am so glad I went with a traditional wedding. Tradition is fun and exciting. I had so much fun finding my wedding garters. I know I will have more fun putting them on and having them taken off. The one I keep will be special to me because I will always remember the fun I had looking for them.
