Sometimes, we wish a day would last forever, and that we never forget those days. If only the bridal or baby showers that family and friends gave you , or your wedding day could go on forever. That’s why my memory books are some of the most treasured items in our home. I have one wedding book devoted to the bridal shower my sister put on for me with some of my friends. We took a lot of pictures that serve as wonderful reminders of what a fabulous night that was. I’ve got pictures of the lovely decorations they had for my party and all the places we went that night, and all the fun things we did. The camera doesn’t lie: we had a blast. We went to a spot where there were male dancers and snapped a few photos there. They knew how to work the crowd. That is definitely a night I’ll never forget, that was the first and only time I’ve ever been to a place that had male dancers. They weren’t the Chippendales, but they were really great to watch.
I got a wedding memory book along with everything else I was buying when I was preparing for our wedding. We had no shortage of pictures to put in it. Actually, I had to get two of them to hold all of the pics. I ran out of space in the albums before the pictures were all filed. There were also pages for our guests signatures in one of the albums. Our last initial was on the front of our beautiful personalized memory books, with my first initial to the left of it and my husband’s to the right of it. The fabric on the book is very pretty, and with that and the satin ribbon on them, they really are quite charming. Fortunately, you can add pages to them if you have to, which of course we did.
I have picture books for every major moment that I’ve lived through. I’m sure as the years progress I’ll have even more keepsake memory books filling up my closet shelves. Baby shower books, a wedding book, and the one from that bachelorette party are the ones that I have currently. I have a little girl that’s turning three next week and a little baby boy that is only one year old. Since we knew what we were having each time, I was able to order a pink book for her and a blue one for him. All of their momentous occasions are recorded in there, such as their first steps and baptisms. I also keep their birth certificates and footprints in their baby memory books along with several pictures of their beautiful little faces. I also put an invitation in the shower books and wedding photo book too. I could open up a photo gallery with all of the pictures I have stored away.
I intend to keep the memories of those wonderful days alive for the rest of my life, and I plan on keeping my memory books in the closet, no matter how much my husband keeps complaining. But all that is about to change soon, because I’m clearing a couple of shelves in the family room for all the home movies that I’ll be recording on the new camcorder I just bought. So now, with the albums we have and the ones we will probably have in the future and all the videos I plan to record, I’m probably going to need a lot more room than originally planned. What can I say, my recollections of the past mean a lot to me. These are the most precious years in a mothers life and I’m not letting anything get by me.
